TurboTax Deluxe not showing running refund/owe information

Yeah, that's the only way to do it.  Really stupid, frustrating, and pointless to get rid of it.  You'll have to check the Tax Summary under tools to see how it changes with each input.

So easy to make a mistake when answering the questions and not noticing it because the tax owed/refund is not updated. This can yield to very costly mistakes that can go unnoticed.

I tried using the phone app which shows it together with the online version but it is becoming unworkable.

Turbotax, you are losing a long time client. It cost you nothing to add it back on the online version but despite all the complaints we are posting, you are ignoring us. Completely unacceptable

why was the running refund/owe meter removed. this was helpful while entering info during the process. don't want to wait until the end to see refund/owe status meter. please add feature back in.

Many people did not understand the meter and thought that TurboTax was taking away their return money.  They would see a figure and then see that refund go down when they added more income.  The meter is still there but you have to put some data in and then run Review before you can see it.

for the frequent turbotax users and faithful patrons, please add back in the live running refund/owe meter. those who don’t understand it shouldn’t be doing taxes on their own

You can activate the Refund Meter by completing the Federal review. 

On the main menu on the left side

• Under Federal
• Click the Review tab
• You must make all of the corrections
• The Federal and State refund meters will appear.

No. the running total of refund or balance due continues and in TurboTax Online/Mobile it can be see on the top section of your return. See the images below.  By clicking the dropdown arrow next to 'State numbers' it will also show your state totals.

It is also displayed in TurboTax Desktop.

I'm working on the online version, its not there - also see this whole thread. Apparently you have to complete your federal return before you see it. This is not how its been in the past, which supports my point that the product has been intentionally degraded - the price of the product has however not degraded

I’ve been using the desktop version for decades and this was a very important feature especially for someone who needs to file an estimate and extension and does not have all the info yet. 

Why was this removed? Because in confused sone people?  Please update and add a setting to enable this or this may be the last year for many of us on TurboTax.

I am also in the desktop version. And while the state tax is updating a running amount, the federal is fixed at $0. Sorry, unless there is some trick to kickstart the federal amount, it is not updating as I enter data.

I switched to the H&R Block e-file. It shows the running refund/owe amount as you work through the sections.
