When I opened Turbo Tax 2020 and took a update, now I cannot advance past the audit defense screen if I answer no thanks it just reruns the check portion and comes right back to this screen. I do not want to answer yes and pay the $45.00 charge. any suggestions.

Are you a California filer, or a non-California filer?
Did you happen to choose to pay a 24.99 state efile out of your Federal refund instead of paying upfront with credit/debit card? Or have you not even gotten that far yet? i.e., are you just finishing the REVIEW tab, subtab Audit Protection, and haven't gotten to the FILE section yet?
This is happening to me as well ! I have entered all my info for direct withdrawal and deposit. Turbo tax will not allow me to get past that audit defense thig ! I am not in California
Not a California filer, I was going to pay for the state return when I completed the state tax like I did last year?
I am on the review tab, that is where the Audit Defense option is?

Do you have the one with the NO THANKS?
If so, clicking NO THANKS should move you forward to the subtab Summary, and the screen should say "We Guarantee the Best Possible Outcome for You."
What is the next screen you see after you click NO THANKS?

it advances back to the analysis screen then to the summary screen back to the audit screen and just keeps this up in a circle?

What product edition are you using, and is it for Windows or Mac?
I don't know why it's doing that. I can't reproduce any loop in Deluxe for Windows.
At the Audit Defense screen, instead of clicking NO THANKS, you could just click the subtab "Summary" at the top. Do you then get the Summary screen that says "We Guarantee the Best Possible Outcome?"
If so, that concludes that section, since the next screen after the Summary screen would normally be the first screen of the FILE tab.
So instead of clicking "Continue" on the Summary screen, just go to whatever section you need to go to to resume work on your return.

Also if you just recently downloaded the update, close TurboTax and reboot/restart your computer. Then launch TurboTax and see if the loop is still there.
Good news, after closing Turbo Tax and rebooting my pc I can now advance and complete the return.
