Trying to download a filed 2019 tax return... the directions say select 'documents' from the left-hand menu... butthe only option is going to settings or sign out

To access your current or prior year online tax returns sign onto the TurboTax website with the User ID you used to create the account - https://myturbotax.intuit.com/

Scroll down to the bottom of the screen and on the section Your tax returns & documents click on Show.  Click on the Year and Click on Download/print return (PDF)

If you used the desktop CD/Download editions installed on your computer, the only copy of your tax data file and any PDF's will be on the computer where the return was created.  TurboTax does not store online any returns completed using the desktop editions.

For a fee of $50 you can get a complete federal tax return from the IRS by completing Form 4506 - http://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/f4506.pdf

I have this problem too! there is no documents option in the left menu when I open turbotax. Please help!

This answer assumes you used Online TurboTax (you didn't say.)   If you used desktop software, it won't apply.

Don't use the left menu column.  Log in and scroll way down on the home screen and find "Your Tax Returns & Documents."   Expand that section and choose the tax year you need, then "Download/print the PDF."

If you don't find any evidence of your prior return in that account, we can tell you how to look for multiple accounts.  Many people end up with multiple accounts without realizing it.
