This year turbo tax didn’t ask about my healthcare insurance any idea why?

@Bogus_joe1973  I did the same thing. I had an issue where I apparently had coverage from Jan 1, 2020 to Jan 31, 2020, so I received a 1095A. I tried to dispute it but it is whatever at this point. I had all of my information here, but they wanted to charge a ridiculous amount. Decided to switch to H&R block this year, still had to pay for the deluxe but it was cheaper than Turbotax by $20/30.

turbo tax asks for market place identifier but VA only sent a 1095B not the 1095a form without the market place identifier I cannot e-file

Is VA the Veterans Administration or the State of Virginia?

The Veterans Administration's healthcare is not considered a Marketplace policy; this is why they sent you a 1095-B.

You will not be getting a 1095-A, unless you got a Marketplace policy. The 1095-B (and 1095-C) are not entered into TurboTax, so just put it your tax folder and forget about it.

If you do not have a Marketplace policy, then go back into TurboTax and answer the question about the 1095-A to indicate that you don't have it.

As @BillM223 states, the Veterans Administration's healthcare is not considered a Marketplace policy; this is why they sent you a 1095-B.

Your healthcare coverage information only affects your tax return if you have a Marketplace policy

The 1095-B (and 1095-C) are not entered into TurboTax;  just put it your tax folder and forget about it.

Healthcare information on a Form 1095-B is not required anywhere on your tax return.  Go back to the "Deductions & Credits" tab to correct.

  1. Scroll down to "Medical"
  2. "Show More"
  3. "Start/revisit" the "ACA (form 1095A) topic
  4. Answer "No" to "Receiving a Form 1095A"
  5. "Continue"
  6. "Continue"
  7. "Wrap up tax breaks"
  8. Click "Tax Tools" in the left hand menu
  9. Click "Tools"
  10. Click "Delete a form"
  11. Find all the forms 8962
  12. "Delete" them
  13. "Confirm deletion"
  14. Click "Review" in the left hand menu

The Health Insurance questions are asked in the Deductions and Credits section - in the Medical section, there is an interview for the 1095-A entry.   Form 8962 Premium Tax Credit is required when someone on your tax return had health insurance in 2020 through Healthcare.gov (or a state marketplace) and took the Advance Premium Tax Credit to lower their monthly premium. We'll help you create (or correct) the form in TurboTax.

You should have received a paper form in the mail from your marketplace. If you didn't receive a Form 1095-A, sign in to your Healthcare.gov account to download a copy.  Once you've got it, follow the instructions in the link below for your version of TurboTax.

When you're done in TurboTax, you'll need to print out Form 8962 and mail or fax it to the IRS, along with any other items requested in their letter (IRS Letter 12C).   For full instructions, use the link below.

The IRS is requesting Form 8962 for 2020    @Brian940

If the IRS accepted your return, you don't need to do anything.

It appears you did not have any marketplace insurance in 2020 (affordability), so you would not have received any Advance Premium Tax Credit (APTC.  The only reason for reporting a Form 1095-A would be to see if you qualified for the APTC.

This year turbo tax didn’t ask about my healthcare insurance any idea why?

I came across the 1095-A form as I was doing TTax, but I found out I was 1095-B.

Now turbo will not let me file until I fill out a 1095-A.

Does anyone know how to bypass that darn thing?

This year turbo tax didn’t ask about my healthcare insurance any idea why?

I thought I had insurance through the state marketplace, but I don't have a 1095-A. I do, however, have a 1095-B and 1095-c and I don't see anywhere in turbotax to enter information from these. Any idea what's going on?

You don't enter a 1095-B or 1095-C on your tax return. You only enter a 1095-A if you get one.
