Didn't ask me for 1095-A either. Got letter from IRS. Now I'm financially set back for 8 weeks. TurboTax sucks it.

I am just now finding out this same situation! I was counting on that refund to be in too. Thanks for nothing TurboTax. This is my final year I will go elsewhere from now on!
I've been loyal to TurboTax for years. They ask a lot of questions that I didn't mind because it made me feel like they have my back. Now I searched complaints and find something like turbo tax freedom is what I should have connected to. Not the FREE which will eventually make you pay a fee for ECT... Look for it. Free is not free! TurboTax karma is a MOFO!
Before you received the letter, did your tax return get accepted? It was it still pending?
Before you received the letter, was your return I n in pending status or did it get approved?
I am in the same boat but I figured it out on my own. I haven't gotten a letter from the IRS yet, but I am pretty positive they will send it because I did get a 1095-A. I understand there isn't a penalty for not having insurance anymore but Turbotax should have had a prompt asking if you got one anyways. This has caused issues now for a lot of people.
I have tried to find where I can do the form 8962 online with Turbotax but to no avail can I find it and it's to early to do the amend button. There are instructions that say go through the amend part so you can just print the filled in for and send it. I went to another service online and put all my information in as I haven't filed yet. Choose I want to print and mail it and BAM there's the form 8962. I am not waiting around for a letter from the IRS. I'm going to print it, sign it, copy of the 1095A and mail it. Turns out, I am getting a credit of $19.00. The IRS can fix it themselves and do the adjustment or request the form 8962 and a copy of the 1095-A to be sent in. No point in taking longer than needed.
No. There is no penalty for not having insurance anymore. You only have to file form 8962 if you have MarketPlace Healthcare and get a 1095-A form.
The IRS letter I got said to mail or fax the filled out forms WITH a copy of the letter they sent. I would wait for your letter and follow their instructions to avoid any delays.
See this TurboTax support FAQ for the Form 8962 and Form 1095-A requested by the IRS - https://ttlc.intuit.com/community/health-care/help/the-irs-is-requesting-form-8962/01/27409
Call and ask for a refund of the TurboTax fee (if you paid for a version). I just filed for a refund of my $40 I spent on the Deluxe version that should have helped me properly file my taxes. I hope the IRS also reprimands TurboTax as well. Can you imagine all the customers that TT screwed over this year and what the IRS employees have to do with all that extra paperwork because TT screwed up!!
Ugh. More waiting. I filed on 30 Jan, accepted 30 Jan. Had bars on the IRS website and then they went away to the still processing, you will be provided with a date when it's available. It's been like that for a week. Decided I would wait and be patient. Today, it didn't change and two years ago, I was held for a random review with the same message. I didn't get my return until the beginning of July. I was hoping I didn't have to wait for a letter from the IRS.
mfknnichy483- I am not clear on what happened 2 years ago. You say you didn't get your return until July? What was the random review about? Did you mean to say refund?
WE shouldn't have to fill out form 8962. Had TT asked for our 1095A we could have entered our payment information on that and TT would do all the calculations for the 8962....but since they failed to do so tens of thousands are left to figure out the ridiculously confusing 8962 & pray we got it right to avoid FURTHER delay. I'm so pissed at TT.
