I’m about done with Turbotax forever.
Yesterday my Fed return was error checked, no errors, showed a $2K refund due. State return partially done and showed a $503 balance due.
Today, opened Turbo to complete State return. Turbo downloaded/installed updates. On relaunch, and before entering any data, Fed refund decremented to $503 and state balance due stayed at $503.
How can anyone trust this software to guide their dealings with government revenue agencies?
I am having a problem with the desktop 2024 Mac version. The software will allow me to import files from "Wells Fargo" but fails to connect to "Wells Fargo Advisors". I have been trying for 3 days to get support. My Financial Advisor even opened a ticket with Wells Fargo. Wells Fargo says it is a Turbotax problem. I have been using Turbotax for 30 years and have never had a problem until this year. Intuit gets a big fat ZERO when it comes to customer support.
2/21/2025 I am unable to install turbotax on win 11 pc. I have downloaded this.
E:AutoRUN.INF date time DVD RW Drive (E:)
Error message: these files cannot be opened.
Microsoft shows many questions about unablity to download this product
tried calling intuit reached recorder...no help
tried logging on site .... no place to put problem. unable to connect even to support chat line much less a real person.
I have used turbo tax cd's for many years. I plan to return this product if no assistance to get it installed.

I am currently trying to file taxes usingTurbo tax home and business 2024 purchase through amazon. I have used this program for about 10 years and each year it works great ... until this current version. It does not guide the user through the deductions and home business section of the return. It simply sends the user directly to the form to fill in the entries. A huge and very significant part of the program has been omitted or is not working. Shall I return the program to Amazon and get a refund? Thank you.
I dont want to import most of the data, why cant I just enter it manually?
Also, the default screen for importing data is messed up; some of the "institutions" are actually individual funds inside the institution.
Last year was MUCH easier!
When you see Wells Fargo Advisors in the Search Results, double-click it and you'll get to the Sign In screen.
If you've gotten that far, what happens after that? If you can give more info, we'll try to help. Make sure your account allows 'third party access'.
Update. Turbotax support could not determine why Wells Fargo Advisors files will not import into the downloaded software. I tried the online version, and 1099's were either not complete or not pulled at all from Wells Fargo Advisors. I have been working for a week and Wells Fargo Advisors and Turbotax point the finger at each other.
So here is my question to all of you on this topic, for those of us who have used TurboTax since the beginning of time and we continue to pay for it each year, why are we not using the IRS recommended free tax software? On a lark after my 34-year-old son who is senior software developer told me dad get a clue why are you paying for software that is getting worse, I thought why not compare, so I went to IRS.gov and picked the same one he is using. For my fairly complex tax return and a MN state tax return it is going to cost me about $15. Sure, I am keying almost everything and the import of 2023 did not bring in everything however it did catch a problem with the MN standard vs itemized deduction that TurboTax was doing wrong. Taxes within about $15 either way for federal and state and no download updates. Seems like next year I don't waste time with all the hassle and cost. I know something with the online has changed because in the past it nickel and dimed you for all the extra forms but that is all gone and they simply say if you file and pay for a state tax form federal is free and the state is still $5 less with the discount TurboTax offered this year.
Did you get this fixed? I can't open 23 and can't download 24.
Make sure c++ is on your computer. The 24 program needs it now
Another software glitch is on SCh SE it is not picking up the W-2 amounts and adding to line 5a. I can override, but will probably have to file a paper form. Sorry Turbotax, you've messed this up
I have used turbotax for at least 16 years, so listen to me intuit. YOUR PROGRAM FOR 2024 SUCKS THE BIG TOE. i just purchased a new HP computer that meets all your requirements and runs on windows 11 home (not S, not pro). I have turned off all firewalls, virus protection, and tried running program as the adminstrator (which i am). i have tried everything on your forum and on microsofts forum. IT DOES NOT WORK. The download occurs, and then it says "extracting files", and NOTHING HAPPENS. I have already spent 2 hours on this, i need to go back to stapes and get a refund on the keys i purchased because your website does suck.
@culbrethcw Why do you need it on SE line 5a? That is only for clergy and Church wages.

Noticed that data ported from federal to state did not transfer properly. It's linked to my SSN, not my spouse's and I can't correct it. I also can't find a way to report it to TurboTax to get it corrected. How do we get this resolved?
When you enter documents in the Federal section, it's important to indicate who they belong to (W-2, 1099-R, 1099-Int, etc.).
If you haven't filed yet, go back to your Federal entries and be sure they are indicated as belonging to the right person. You can change that if not correct.
If you've already filed, wait until you receive your Refund, and you can then Amend your return.
If you're using TurboTax Online, after making any changes to your Federal return, clear your Cache and Cookies and then step through your state return to see if the issue is resolved.
Here's more info on Do I Need to Amend?
