Why do you need it?  Are you trying to file a 2022 or 2023 tax return?  You don't need it to file for 2024.

You need to ask your employer for another copy. Or you can get your Wage and Income transcript from the IRS, see this….

Get a W2 copy from the IRS…..

You can get a copy of your W2 from Social Security

I had that very thing happen to me back in the mid 80's.  I had kept records of my pay hours I worked and any expected expences, along with amounts paid me.  I got help from a IRS agent.  We filed a tax return based on my records.  Because he had been witholding taxes, socila security and medicare, but failed to pay them in telling me he just considered me wub contract labor.  I was supprised when I filed with the IRS they sent me a refund just like my tax witholding had been paid.  The agent said it wasn't my fault that the company I worked for failed to pay the IRS.  Later I heard his business was seised and he had to liquidate to pay the owed amounts.  The the process was not all that hard just a little unsetteling.
