I've spent hours on the phone between TD Ameritrade (Schwab) and Turbotax with no resolution
I've done my taxes for years and know what I'm doing. TD Ameritrade was bought by Schwab and kept their 1099's separate and very clearly have 2 separate import processes.
TD Ameritrade says the account/control # is correct and should work
The people at Turbotax tried to act like no one was having issues upon my 1st call to them, Ameritrade guy confirmed multiple brokerages were having an issue with Turbotax.
I can clearly see people with Ameritrade and Schwab 1099's have been having issues on this site
I got boilerplate email instructions and nothing specific for the TD Ameritrade issue.
Basically when I try to import my 1099B via the Import function, after I enter the account # and control ID as seen on my 1099, turbotax just beeps and doest move forward to even getting a chance to see/download any data. My 1099 was generated on 2/26/25
I want the import function to work as it has every year including with way more transactions in my past returns than this year. I dont want to do a summary and send 50 pages to the IRS with wash sales.

See this FAQ about Schwab: How can I fix my 1099 import issue?
Nothing in your link is helpful for me
hey all TT employees: charles Schwab bought td ameritrade.
both have separate import processes
Did you Enable Third-Party Access?
TD Ameritrade import process is NOT the same as Schwab
there is nothing to enable
the 1099s come from 2 different sources
Just wanted to add that you're not alone. The Schwab 1099 imports fine but my TDA 1099 does not import after inputting my acct# and DocID. It starts "establishing a secure connection" then beeps and nothing happens.
Yes its an issue
Denial is not a solution
thanks for confirming
What happens if you change your password for Schwab? Sometimes TurboTax doesn't like some symbols in passwords and I have seen this work for others. Try that and let me know if that works.
That doesn't work. Charles Schwab provided the TD Ameritrade 1099 but there's no Charles Schwab import. We have the account/document IDs for the TD Ameritrade 1099, but the import process does nothing when we enter them. Just shows "establishing secure connection..." then disappears.
I've already imported all my charles schwab accounts, so there's nothing to do there.
Already did that but its irrelevant as other poster said
tdameritrade import is based on a document id number and account number
I just came across this from another user: What fixed it for me was a security setting under Windows Settings, Network & Internet, Advanced Network Settings, Internet Options, Security tab. Mine had defaulted to a Medium High security zone. I changed it to Medium and that fixed it.
Sorry to have you keep trying things, but I'm trying to find solutions. Can you let me know if this works?
@ChrisX1 @evonsdesigns @redjackco
thanks but I am on a MAC and using the downloaded software so technically not in a browser as well
I'm having the exact same issue with Morgan Stanley
and zero help from anyone?
I had the same problem. Googling led me to this site. Solution for TD Ameritrade imports was to temporarily disable the microsoft defnnder firewall setting "Microsoft Defender Firewall help protect your device while on public network"
I temporarily disabled this setting and entered the document ID again (somehow just disabling defender and keeping my previously typed document ID without retyping it didnt work I think on the first attempt) . This allows the desktop turubotax app to connnect to tdameritrade. I think I saw a comment from someone in the thread that they were not using the web version so this firewall stuff should not apply to them but in my case (windows 11) it actually did matter for the desktop app.
