Corruption could have occurred in the Application or in an associated preference or support file.
The best remedy is to totally uninstall TurboTax and all associate files and then re-install with a fresh download. That will not delete or change any .tax data file that had already been created with the tax data.
To uninstall the application and all associated files need to be deleted and then the application reinstalled. If there was a state then the state must also be reinstalled.

Whatever the issue was, tech support did not want to speak further about the issue I was having because they said I was not using the most recent version of the Apple Mac OS (I'm on Big Sur 11.6.6). Confused and bewildered, I took out the retail packaging and the minimum system requirements says Catalina 10.15 or later; which basically blows a hole in Intuit TurboTax Tech Support's argument that the error was my problem to solve on my own. With DuckDuckGo searches and relying on my own ability to analysis the problem, I was able to successfully remove TT2021HB, empty the trash can, reboot, empty the trash can again and reinstall the program. Once it finished the update, it is now working again.
The statement that Turbo Tax 2021 Home/Business crashed while retrieving an update did not play well in Intuit's support script so they blamed me. Go figure.
