I was thinking of switching to TT Online this year, but I can't believe that you need a separate User ID for each return. My mother-in-law doesn't have a computer, no email, yet I would have to create an email address for her in order to file her taxes? Same with my mom.
I guess I'll have to download desktop then. What a stupid requirement.
You'll need to sign in or create an account to connect with an expert.
@TRON1982X You can use your email for her return. You can use the same email address for 5 accounts and returns. If she has a simple return you might be able to use the Online Free Edition for her.
How many returns can I file with TurboTax?

That says……No more than five Intuit accounts and five corresponding federal returns (for example, for a family of five) may be created, purchased, and filed using any one email address.

Yes, that would be the best deal for you.
Perhaps they'll change the "one return" thing for online in the future or offer differential pricing for multiple returns.

Right, but don't you have to pay a separate fee for each return with Online?

Yep.....for any "Online" users, they pay separately for each account. (unless the taxpayer involved has Std Ded, no 1099-B/8949 investments & no other special forms needed...then maybe Free)
