Schwab data gives error importing to Desktop TT even though states 'linked successfully'm

Schwab sent me email stating my 1099s are ready. TT Home and Business tells me I can do it. I enter my information it supposedly links successfully on the Schwab site it sends me to and then fails when goes back to Desktop TT. Multiple times.

In previous TT versions, it would ask for the specific Schwab account info and codes to do this, but not this time.

Please advise as can't finish my taxes in timely fashion.

Thanks,

Adam

Some have received a message from Charles Schwab saying downloads would be enabled on Feb 27th.

If you received a "Success" message but your data hasn't appeared in TurboTax, it is likely due to recent browser security updates regarding Local Network Access.

To fix this you need to allow TurboTax to securely retrieve your data through your browser settings:

  1. Locate the View Site Information icon (the "tune" or "lock" icon) on the far left of your address bar, just before the URL.
  2. Find Local Network Access in the dropdown menu.
  3. Toggle the switch to ON.
  4. Refresh the page and attempt your import again.

If permissions aren't the issue, one of the following factors may be at play:

  • Brokerage Delays: While most forms arrive by January 31, many brokerages delay Consolidated 1099s (like the 1099-B) until mid-February due to complex reporting requirements.
  • Availability: Your brokerage must specifically "release" the import file to TurboTax. If it isn’t ready, we recommend checking back.
  • Connection Blocks: Active VPNs or aggressive Anti-Virus software can occasionally block the import feature between your bank and TurboTax. Try disabling them temporarily or switching to a different browser.

Schwab has the information available, and gives me the message that 'success, we've got ur tax data, you can return to TurboTax' but when I click to do that, my desktop version says 'this import was unsuccessful'.

I followed ur recommendation to provide access, but no Local Network Access checkbox that I could see. Screenshot attached. Please advise, as I've been using TT for over a decade and never had issues importing brokerage data.

FYI I'm on a Mac and have given all the permissions I can from my end.  Phone support can fix it on a PC but coming up blank on a Mac. Please advise.

Are the import files ready? they are separate from the PDFs, which can be downloaded but not imported.  You might contact Schwab to confirm that your information is available for import.

If you've confirmed the file is available for import, you can also try clearing your browser's cache and cookies, try a different browser (Chrome, Firefox), or restart the browser/computer then try the import again.

If you have a Windows device and are able import the statement you need to a Windows computer, you can use these steps to move it to your Mac that has TurboTax:

Move the File: Copy your 1099 file from the original computer onto a USB flash drive or secure cloud storage.

  • Transfer to Mac: Copy the file from the USB drive to your Mac's Desktop or Documents folder.
  • Import into TurboTax:
    • Open TurboTax for Mac.
    • Select File in the top menu bar, then choose Import > From PDF.
    • iIf uploading a specific 1099 (like 1099-B), search for "1099" in the search box, select the "Jump to" link, and follow the prompt to upload the file.

Please see this help article for more information about importing issues.

Ready from Schwab, cleared cookies, spent an hour with Advantage support, no success. Possibly file too big although not 10,000 transactions or whatever limit, so not sure now to import the pdf on a mac. They can solve for PC, not for Mac. Every year something goes wrong on TT, about ready to stop using it.

Yes I got an email from Schwab about 1099B this AM. Even though when I called them early in the week about this problem, they said all was well on their side.  Not happy about having to wait until end of month but no choice.

Also, annoyed that TT hasn't gotten the updated Depreciation forms as I'm trying to get my home sale taxes figured out ASAP.

As far as the depreciation, the work on this section is expected to be completed with an update coming after Thursday night (2/19).  The best time to check for a change will be Friday (2/20).

Just a point of clarification, the IRS did not finalize this form until Feb 11, 2026. You can see this here: IRS Draft Tax Forms, Instructions for Form 4562, Depreciation and Amortization (Including Information on Listed Property).

Once a form is finalized by the IRS, it has to be coded into the special language the software uses and has to be thoroughly tested for calculations and e-filing acceptability. The IRS then has to approve it for e-file. It always takes a little longer for a form to become available for e-file in a software program. The dates are subject to change due to all that needs to be done.
