Schedule D is not printing

I'm needing to amend my 2023 return. I realize that technically schedule D is not required for my taxes EXCEPT that I have a long term capital loss that only can be reported on schedule D. How do I uncheck the box that says it is not required so that I can get a schedule D to report the capital loss carry over.  For some reason it did not carry over my 2022 loss into the calculations and I can't seem to figure out a way to get a schedule D and the appropriate worksheets to print.  FRUSTRATING.

You didn't state what product you are using, so I'll assume you are using desktop TurboTax.  Were your 2022 and 2023 returns both prepared in desktop TurboTax?   If so, and if there was an allowed capital loss carryover from 2022, it should have been transferred into the 2023 return, assuming you had the *.tax2022 data file.  It's puzzling to me why your 2022 capital loss carryover did not transfer in.

When amending the return, if you need to enter a 2022 capital loss carryover for removing the checkmark, in the 2023 return interview have you gone through the Capital Loss Carryover interview?    That should generate a Schedule D, and the Form 1040 should no longer have a checkmark.  I just did a test scenario where I first entered some capital gains distribution from a test 1099-DIV, and thus had a checkmark on the Form 1040 saying no Schedule D required.   I then used the Capital Loss Carryover interview to enter some capital losses carried over from the prior year using the steps below, and the results flowed to Schedule D and the Form 1040 no longer had a checkmark.

ADDENDUM

TIP:  If you haven't already started the 2023 amending process, I would first make a backup copy of the *.tax2023 data file as originally filed, as well as a PDF of the 2023 return as originally filed and store those somewhere safe and secure.   Then if anything goes wrong during the amending process, you will still have the original data as filed, and with which you can start the amending process again if necessary.

Remember all PDF tax documents and tax data files are very sensitive files, since they contain your personal ID info, financial data, and possibly bank account numbers, etc. Be sure to store them safely and securely to guard against computer theft, hacking, etc.

Thanks! I finally figured out that the problem was that for some reason the 2022 didn't carry over - and when I found the place to enter that information (which took some sleuthing) and put in the right number then the schedule D also showed up. Thank you for your help.

And I saved both the old and the new versions of the forms. Thanks again.
