Rejection of Efile

I believe this happened last year...but the IRS keeps rejecting my Efile.

I suspect it's because I paperfiled last year, because they rejected my efile for 2020.

So I wonder if I'm in a loop.

Any thoughts or idea of to do?  Just call the IRS?

I don't know what to do to fix this...thanks in advance for ideas.

Rejection of Efile

The IRS probably did not process the 2020 tax return until late in 2021 so the 2020 AGI is not in their database.

Try entering a 0 (zero) for the 2020 AGI and e-file again.

Bingo!  Thanks so much!  That worked...with a small caveat that wasn't obvious to me at first.  I entered 0 a couple of times and both rejected.  But realized I needed to enter 0.00 and it worked.

Thank you so much!

Rejection of Efile

I tried the solution of changing the AGI to 0.00, but it changes it back to 0. (Zero with a dot).

I changed it in the response to the "rejection" message and TTax  pops up the box with the AGI value to change. And there it saves it as 0. (if that makes sense). Is there another place I can change the AGI?

Thanks

Rejection of Efile

Please see the FAQ link provided below for assistance. You would only change the AGI within the Fix it now or Revisit area. It will take you to the screen where you need to fix it, so that you are able to refile. If you still get a rejection, you may have to just file by mail:

How do I fix e-file reject IND-031-04 or IND-032-04?

What if I entered the correct AGI and I'm still getting an e-file reject?

Rejection of Efile

Thank you @DoninGA for suggesting this solution to a rejected efile return due to incorrect 2020 AGI.

This solution of entering a 0 (zero) for the 2020 AGI worked for me and my 2021 federal and state returns were then successfully efiled.

Note: I had initially followed the TurboTax advice of getting an IRS transcript of the 2020 return.  The IRS 2020 transcript verified that the correct 2020 AGI was being entered when I efiled my 2021 return.  However, my subsequent 2021 efile was still not successful.  Since I efiled the 2020 return in March 2020, one would think that the IRS' efile database would be updated by March 2021 when I did the 2021 return efile.   In my case (and possibly others), it appears that the IRS' 2020 transcript database is not synchronized with the IRS' efile database.

It seems strange that entering a zero (0) resolved this 2020 AGI problem.  Thanks again for suggesting this solution.
