My tax return was rejected due to an error on my daughter's return (I didn't check the box that she could be and would be claimed as a dependent). I am amending her return for this and then I will file my return (which I filed an extension for). I want to efile my return after her amended return is processed but the TurboTax message said it would only be eligible for a paper filing. Is there any way around this?

Sorry. You will not be able to e-file this year. Even if you amend your daughter's return, it will not be processed soon enough for you to e-file, even if you wait for months. File by mail. Print, sign and date your return in ink, and mail it in.
When you mail a tax return, you need to attach any documents showing tax withheld, such as your W-2’s or any 1099’s. Use a mailing service that will track it, such as UPS or certified mail so you will know the IRS/state received the return.
Federal and state returns must be in separate envelopes and they are mailed to different addresses. Read the mailing instructions that print with your tax return carefully so you mail them to the right addresses.
Thanks for the info. The IRS estimates 20 weeks to process an amended return so I'm thinking that my daughter's amended return will be processed so that I can file my return by October 15. That's when I want to resubmit my return efiled and would like to do so thru TurboTax.
@JoAnn24 Waiting for your daughter's amended return to be processed is a waste of your time. The backlogged IRS will not correct the duplicate use of the SSN in the system in time for you to e-file this year. You can file by mail now...or wait until October and discover that is still the way you have to file.
I feel if I mail my return now, with my daughter listed as a dependent, my return will get rejected (until her amended return is processed). There's 28 weeks until Oct 15th--I'll wait until then.
