If you are trying to claim the IL property tax rebate, you need to be sure you have walked through all the screens in the state return. You will come to a screen for the Property Tax Credit. This will attach form 1040-ICR to your return. You can go to your forms, if you have already completed that section, and see if it is included in your return.
To see your forms select Tax Tools>>Tools>>Delete a Form>>Scroll to the bottom to see if this form is listed. If you have paid for your return, you can go to the print center to see or if you are using the desktop version, you just need to click on forms in the upper right hand corner.
Are you getting $0 back or are you having to pay in? If you had a tax due, then this credit can reduce your tax liability, but is a nonrefundable credit so it will not result in a refund of more than you paid in. This means if you have other tax credits that reduced your tax liability to $0, you would not receive the credit.
This is not the same at the 2021, property tax rebate. That was a one time rebate. For 2022, the only thing available is the nonrefundable property tax credit.
Is your income less than $500k if married filing jointly or $250K if any other filing status? In order to claim the rebate, your income must below this threshold.
The property would have also had to be purchased prior to 2022 in order to qualify for the credit.
To clarify, which state are you filing in?
Illinois
