This worked great. I was not able to remove the .net framework files. I simply uninstalled turbo tax and then updated windows ten. After that I reinstalled Turbo Tax and everything work fine.
I keep getting error message 5639 and cannot do my state return.
I have previous years of TT installed on my PC and have reloaded Windows 10 multiple times . If I uninstall I know it's not completely uninstalled since it doesn't ask for the activation code again. Based on your reply and my suspicions I know TT uninstaller is not taking everything off so I don't want to lose my previous years versions even though I have the Tax files saved which folder are you deleting? Just the 2019 folder or the main folder for TT?

What is the TurboTax phone number? - Community
[phone number removed]
They removed the phone number from the post. TT has really gotten pathetic!
I have contacted TT customer service including Supervisor and Specialist support at least 7 times and hours upon hours of working on this issue with no resolve other than contact Microsoft which I did twice and reloaded Windows 10 3 times.
So last I was told was to install on another computer...that's the resolution???????
I, too was told many of these same ridiculous things. Try this (this is what worked for me): Right click on the TT icon on your desktop. Scroll down to "Properties." Click on this. There will be 6 tabs. Open the "Compatibility" tab. Scroll down and check the box "Run as an administrator." Close this window and try starting TT. For me, this let it update and I could download and finish my state.
I spent an hour on the phone last night, we tried to "manually install the update" I was able to get in and finish my taxes but cannot submit without updating. Updater gets stuck on waiting for installer: Help
This product is an absolute piece of garbage. Intuit should be ashamed to have their name stamped on this junk.
I installed Turbo Tax 2019 from the disk and from the web site when the first option failed. Both were downloaded as an exe file but inside the explorer window, all I get is a circling donut and I cannot click anything inside it. But outside the window it all works. The only solution is to shut down and restart. I have not changed anything and everything works normally -- Is something blocking this installation?
Can't update or install updates on my Mac
Thanks bsroo1! I tried a lot of the suggestion and yours is the only one work! Thanks again!
Never had this problem before but now that i am trying to install TTX 2020 the files will not extract. Works okay on my MSFT Surface but not on my HP desktop. Any ideas? TTX support has no clue.
Ellery, I had this problem last year. I was told by someone to run TurboTax as administrator. After that, the downloads took an inordinate amount of time, sometimes 45 minutes. It looks like nothing is downloading, but it is working in the background. Then, all of a sudden, I get the message that the download was successful. Every new update takes a very long time, but I deal with it. I had to update the 2019 Program before the 2020 transfer of files worked. I hope this helps. I know how frustrating this is. I almost did not renew this year because of it. It may or may not work for you, but it worked for me. Patience is the key.
There should be an easier fix.
