I appreciate your help. Unfortunately, none of that worked. The screen continues to loop - when I select "Continue" it returns me to that same page with the same answer (Yes) marked but no new questions and no clear way to move forward. In the summary screen it indicates "$0" but I didn't have a place to enter money.
You need to first enter your educator expenses on your federal return.
To do this in TurboTax Online you can follow these steps:
I already updated the federal return to include the educator expense. I went into it again to verify that it was captured and it was there in the federal return but I still have the same issue with the state return (the summary shows it as "$0" and I go through a loop when I try to update it.
Your post shows you are using TurboTax Deluxe Online. In my account, I am able to enter educator expenses and the correct amount shows as a deduction on Sch ADJ line 8b, Code 118.
TurboTax Online is updated automatically. Please try again.
I am currently having the same issue. None of the suggestions above fixed the problem.
I am having the exact same issue as Willynsherisnow.
I spent an hour on the phone with turbotax - not of their suggestions worked. And regarding the suggestions below from other users, I had already done those steps correctly in the first place.
This is clearly a glitch. Unfortunately, I called turbotax two weeks ago, and they still have not fixed the glitch.
TurboTax transfers data from your federal return to your state return. Before you begin troubleshooting your state return, go back through your federal return and make sure everything is correct. Make sure you entered your educator expenses on your federal return.
After you review your federal return, select the State Taxes tab and review the state section. Pay close attention to the information, especially if you have made changes to your federal return. There might be new sections that need to be completed.
