I had issues on my Mac as well after I downloaded.  I exited the program, opened the download, which basically actually installed it at that point (it only looked like it installed before).  After reopening, I was able to e-file.  Hopefully this helps you

I had issues as well even after "checking for updates" and downloading.  I then followed some advice on here to exit TurboTax and run the downloaded update in order to install (it did look like it had installed when I first downloaded but it doesn't appear it actually did).  When I reopened, I was able to e-file.

Turbo won't let me transmit my returns. Why

What happens when you try to transmit them? Is there any error or message? @James F Brack

You are posting on an older thread that may have outdated information.  What specific update is needed?  What error message are you getting when you attempt to e-file your return?

I am lucky after two days of looking around and found this community. My efile failed with reason: "cancelled. Looks like ... a technical hiccup." Retried efile numerous time day and night on and off hours no help. Finally found this post and tried: in Turbotax, did a <File> <Check Updates>, update happened and efile went through for both Federal and State.

 

Turbotax has to provide a more meaningful and applicable error message going forward. It wasted a lot of time and created a lot of frustration for the user. I almost gave up and file by mail as suggested in Turbotax. If I did that, I will be very unhappy.
