Hello, I have a little issue with my refund.. my refund was paid to my bank and I was able to withdraw small amount from my refund before my bank lock my account and they said to me that the remaining balance of my refund as been sent back to irs and it’s been 3 weeks now I haven’t receive a check in my mail
Literally going through a headache. My refund was sent back to the irs October 7 and the irs has yet to receive it 4 weeks later. They also told me if Santa Barbra Tax Group doesn’t return it in the full dollar amount they want receive it. I NEED ANSWERS!!!!
I’m not sure if my bank rejected my refund of not, but my refund was deposited into my account and then all of a sudden this evening that amount was removed. However there dosent say anything on my history and I didn’t spend it so what do I do? How do I go about finding out why and getting my money back?
No, we cannot send to another account. If your bank rejected and sent money back to the IRS, usually the normal procedure for wrong name, or spouses acct, or something not matching; then you should receive a mailed check to the address on the return. But if this is just happening at night time for the first time like tonight, your bank could also be processing the deposit; if name matches, and sometimes depending on institution, it may disappear for the night or so, and be deposited when processing for the bank is over or the IRS funds release date (just an FYI on some pending deposits). If not deposited in a few days after disappearing from your pending deposits you could follow up with the bank first, or call the IRS.

The bank would have sent the refund back to the IRS. The IRS will mail a refund check to the address on your tax return.
If the bank rejects your refund, the IRS will mail a paper check to the address listed on the return. You can check the status of your refund through the IRS website by visiting the link below.
