Accepted means received for processing. It does not mean the IRS accepted/agreed with the amount of your refund, as you discovered. Wait for a letter from them. They do not notify TT, but it sounds like they denied a Recovery Rebate Credit. (The message on the ITS website re this is a generic one that lists lots of possibilities.)
As for the change on your TT file, did you report a 1099-G for Unemployment? The program has been updated to reflect the new $10,200 deduction.
I DID report my 1099g, $18k received & $346 withheld-
But why does TT have my federal refund displayed as $1,534 now while it showed $1,200 before the offset? Btw, the irs says the offset was due to claiming a dependent who’s ineligible as such 0r the like, they say nothing about receiving (or not) a recovery rebate credit.
I guess I’m asking what claiming the 1099g does, short of getting $346
While wondering how the $10,200 would net me a $1,500 refund, I went to amend 2020 on efile.com & it became $1,700. I submitted to efile it & it turned out to be a regular 1040, NOT 1040x so, of course it was rejected. I know that you can efile amended 2019 & 2020 but those are the only ones, else it’s gotta be mailed. It’s proven to be a headache &1/2 just tryna find a site where you can amend a ‘19 or ‘20 & efile- I’m Thinkin I gotta print out the 1040x for both years & transcribe it all from efile.com. PLUS, they pulled a ‘baitNswitch’ saying it co$ts like $30 + other fee$ that they’ll take straight outta the refund b4 it hits my account. Crookz
If you want to e-File 1040-X you must use the same service you used to e-File 1040.
If you are going to amend, review Form 1040-X carefully before submitting it.
Don't submit an incorrect Form 1040-X.
Instructions for Form 1040-X on IRS site will tell you how to assemble a paper amended return.
