I'm self-employed and receive a W-2 and Schedule-K from my company. My health insurance premiums are deducted in the "Self-Employment Health Insurance" section in "Your income and expenses" section.
Turbo Tax is also adding these health premiums from my Schedule-K and also from my 1095-A and including that as a medical expense so my health premiums are getting counted three times.
I don't know how to fix this in the online software.
You'll need to sign in or create an account to connect with an expert.
You need to enter the health insurance premium information from your 1095-A in the Medical/Affordable Care Act (1095-A) section of TurboTax first and delete the other entries.
This information will be used in Form 8962 to determine any adjustment needed in the premium tax credit you received.
Since you're self-employed, you are also permitted to deduct your portion of the health insurance premiums (total premium minus the premium tax credit.
TurboTax will compute this amount and enter this deduction on Schedule 1, Line 16, and carry it to Line 8a, Form 1040.
After you have entered the 1095-A be sure to continue the rest of the way through that section as the self-employment question is on the page after you have reviewed your 1095-a entries.
Yes, I have no tax credit so my full premiums are tax deductable. This part Turbo Tax is doing correct.
It's also adding my premiums in my Medical Expenses. How do I remove it from here?
Any out-of-pocket premiums are tax deductible as medical expenses. Premiums would be added to any other expenses.
It suddenly worked. I'm not sure what happened but it finally cleared out medical expenses after going through the interviews again.
