That's good news @BigDog !
I deleted all the files and reinstalled. I was able to open turbotax. I then attempted to download a couple of States and it crashed again. I can not open TurboTax......going to ask for a refund!
I have the same problem using Big Sur. Reinstalled TT2020 and got message "we hit a snag" and TT2020 does't open. Spent many hours doing return before this problem occurred. Please come up with a fix. Thanks.

Many of us have found that we needed to delete all files associated with turbotax from our Mac, then download the latest version of TT20 from our downloads page and install it.
You can find instructions for how to delete all the associated files here:

I know everyone is doing their 2020 taxes but does anyone know if the 2019 software will work on Big Sur before I pay for it?
Works for me
With TT19 it seems to be the same situation as with TT20. You have to remove TT19 from your Mac and remove all associated files (same instructions shared here before), then download a NEW VERSION of TT19 from your downloads page in your TT online account. Then you should be fine. At least, it worked for me and my understanding is it has worked for other users, too.
That’s always a good idea but I didn’t do anything, it just ran
I had Catalina installed last year and had the same problem. Spent hour and half deleting files and reinstalled. Finally worked....same disaster this year. I have lost my patience with Intuit’s ineptitude.
I ran TT '19 after I upgraded to Big Sur just fine. Did not remove/reinstall any files.
btw: does anyone know how to unsubscribe to this thread? (questions are getting repetitive and have already been answered)
Awesome, thank you!
I'll try it later.
I am running 11.2.1 and I downloaded TT back in the fall. When I tried to use TT with Big Sur it failed. I was fortunate to have a Catalina machine and did my taxes with it. Today I opened my "fall version" of TT on my Big Sur machine and was offered some updates. After accepting them I redid my taxes, as a exercise, on the Big Sur machine and came up with the same answers.
Several have suggested that you should un-install and then re-install TurboTax and its related files. Another post (above) list the items to un-install. I have done this and still no luck. This is all using TurboTax under Big Sur.
Un-installed Turbotax and re-installed. This time I got to the message where you have to select “I Agree” to the License. Then the message in a box came up stating “It may be that your internet service is down ... .” I had done the re-install using the internet, so it is not down. Then I select the OK at the bottom of that message.
Then I only get the blank box with TurboTax 2020 at the top - center, and Cancel at the bottom right, and a blue dot in the center. All menu items are dim, i.e. not selectable.
I selected Cancel at the bottom right and it stoped TT. Then re-start and the message just comes up again. Viscous Cycle.
Big Sur is giving a number of other problems, such as Safari not working correctly.
I have been using TT since Mac-in-Tax, and and Macs since before the Fat Mac. I have never seen anything as bad as this OS before.
My opinion is it is a Big Sur Problem.
When I try to open the app I get a message saying " Please wait while we verify everything is up to date..." and then it quits.
The next step comes up about installing updates but it quits before I can click on it.
I had problems at the initial install but after transmitting a state return it won't open anymore.
