That step was done and e-filed taxes. A day later, got an email from TT that state and federal was rejected because of form. When I hit fix error, it doesn’t take you to error.
Can you screenshot your error message?
Without capturing any personal details, can you screenshot that with the camera on a wide view? what are the rest of the words to the right?
Mine was rejected as well. It seems that the software put "Covid Cares Act" on line C of 8915-F which I believed caused the rejection. It should be blank if you checked the box for "Was this a Coronavirus-related distribution reported in 2020 check here" which it was. It seems that any entry for line C has to be a FEMA number in a specific format. I'm using the online version so I can't edit the form directly but I think deleting that would fix it. If I am mistaken please let me know? If I'm right, anyone else figure out a way to fix it using the online version?
I was on the Desktop and had to fix the worksheet for that error - not the form directly.
It immediately cleared that exact error and I was able to refile. Wish I could help with the online but haven't used that.
I should add that the "fix" I was led to did not work...
I'm getting rejected as well because of the invalid FEMA code that Turbotax is putting in there. Looking for any help or direction here on how to fix this. I shouldn't have to mail in my return as this is obviously a TT software error.
Same for me. I detached from 8915F, partially followed the instructions, which meant going back to 2020’s return for the info, and refilled out 8915.
I checked against the 1st 8915 I’d done 2 days ago and it looked as it should. There were a couple of blanks in the form that were different than the one that was rejected. Resent it and already have acceptance from IRS.
Do you mind if I ask if yours is Coronavirus related? If so, are you checking the box for that? I noticed if you don't check the box then there isn't an option to choose Coronavirus from the FEMA code list.
If you are on the desktop version, go in the right corner and click forms. Find the 8915 “E” form. On that form there is a “.” (Period) listed under FEMA number that automatically transfers to your 8915 “F” form. Delete the period.
click the step by step button on right hand corner to get back to exile.
yes, it was coronavirus related.
I'm using the online version.
tmas,
If you're asking me then yes, I checked the box but followed the "fix" instructions by unchecking that box and selecting the "blank spot" from the FEMA disaster codes dropdown which I thought might clear the entry but it didn't. Not being able to directly edit the worksheets or forms using the online version means we'll probably have to wait for a fix from TT
Yeah, I did the same thing and it didn't work. Thanks.
