Today I filed my 2023 federal and state taxes and both were rejected because my IP PIN is incorrect.
I signed into my IRS account and retrieved my IP PIN.
the problem is, IRS has assigned a 6 digits pin, but Turbotax only allows 5 digits.
So who is correct? IRS or Turbotax?
thanks
Nader
You'll need to sign in or create an account to connect with an expert.
To enter, edit or delete a 6 digit IP PIN
Click on Federal Taxes (Personal using Home and Business)
Click on Other Tax Situations
Scroll down to Other Return Info
On Identity Protection PIN, click the start button
Or enter ip pin in the Search box located in the upper right of the program screen. Click on Jump to ip pin
The question was not how to enter my PIN in turbotax, and was why IRS assigned 6 digits and turbotax allows only 5 digits to be entered.
The e-filing code is any self-selected 5 digit number. The 6 digit IP PIN is a separate entry.
