Install error

Updates for my TurboTax 2022 keep stalling so I tried to reinstall/Repair and got this error message:
"The file '_ssc.rabgrp_nommoc_lacol_tib23_rgnerepw' cannot be installed because the file cannot be found in cabinet file 'Data_1.cab'

I am using the CD-ROM version.

I'm not sure if this is the proper forum to post this to but it is the only one I could find that allows me to ask any question after searching for 25 minutes.

When you uninstall software it can leave files behind which interferes with the re-install of the software.  After you uninstall, try manually uninstalling TurboTax.

How do I forcefully uninstall TurboTax for Windows?

Sometimes uninstalling TurboTax CD/Download software doesn't completely remove the program. If you need to, you can forcefully uninstall TurboTax to ensure all TurboTax files are removed. This doesn't remove your data.

First, follow these steps to uninstall TurboTax.

Then, view your Hidden Items in File Explorer

  1. Right-click the Windows Start icon
  2. Select File Explorer
  3. Select View menu
  4. Check the Hidden Items box
    • Please remember to undo this step when you are done to re-hide sensitive Windows system files
  5. Browse to the following locations and delete the subdirectories that include the 2-digit tax year you want to remove (For example, TY22 would be 2022 software)
    • 2022 TurboTax Individual (Personal) and TurboTax Business
      • C:\ProgramData\Intuit\TurboTax\TY22
      • C:\ProgramData\Intuit\TurboTax\MSI\TY22
      • C:\Users{computer username}\AppData\Roaming\Intuit\TurboTax\TY22
    • Prior year TurboTax (xx is the 2-digit tax year)
      • C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Intuit\TurboTax\TYxx\PER\MSI
      • C:\Program Files (x86)\TurboTax\TYxx
      • C:\ProgramData\Intuit\TurboTax\TYxx
      • C:\ProgramData\Intuit\TurboTax\MSI\TYxx
      • C:\Users{computer username}\AppData\Roaming\Intuit\TurboTax\TYxx
    • Prior year TurboTax Business (xx is the 2-digit tax year)
      • C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Intuit\TurboTax\TYxx\BIZ\MSI
      • C:\Program Files (x86)\TurboTax\TYxx
      • C:\ProgramData\Intuit\TurboTax\TYxx
      • C:\ProgramData\Intuit\TurboTax\MSI\TYxx
      • C:\Users {computer username}\AppData\Roaming\Intuit\TurboTax\TYxx
  6. When you're finished deleting the relevant subdirectories, Empty the Recycle Bin
  7. Restart your computer

Thank you for the response but I am not attempting to uninstall the program - only trying to make it work which is why I used the Reinstall/Repair function.

Are you implying that I should totally uninstall the program then reinstall from CD again?

@dferrise  Your best bet might be to totally uninstall the software, then manually remove files in my steps above.  Re-start your computer, then re-install the software. Some where the repair you did might have messed up the files.
