TurboTax is no longer offering me the option of importing my information from Fidelity. How do I fix this?
You'll need to sign in or create an account to connect with an expert.
This experience is unfortunate. You can choose to enter your information yourself if the import doesn't seem to be working. It has worked for others, so one thought is for you to clear your cache and cookies and try once more. There are instructions for each type of browser.
If you have multiple sales transactions you can choose to aggregate into long and short term entries as follows.
You can do a summary of long term and then short term combinations (long term holding is more than one year, short term holding is one year or less). Make one entry for each. You can then send the worksheets or statement with Form 8949 after your return is accepted, attached to Form 8453.
If you are e-filing your tax return, then mail your statements (including Form 1099-B), along with Form 8453 to:
Internal Revenue Service
Attn: Shipping and Receiving, 0254
Receipt and Control Branch
Austin, TX 73344-0254
If you need a blank Form 8453, you can download this pdf, enter your address information and check the box for Form 8949 (this form is really just a cover sheet).
For interest and dividends you can search (upper right) 1099-int / 1099-div then use the Jump to.. link to start your entry.
Please update here if you need further assistance.
Are you sure it's not available? You don't have to wait for TTX to "offer" it.
You just navigate to the Federal Wages&Income page, scroll down to the "Investments & Savings" section, and start in on importing your Fidelity 1099-B under "Stocks, Cryptocurrency, Mutual Funds, Bonds, Other (1099-B)".
When you start the import there, TTX shows what you've already entered first (if anything), and you go to the bottom and Add Investments, then the next page starts the import process.....you will be able to select the 1099-B, 1099-INT and 1099-DIV all at the same time. (Also one or more direct deposit accounts, which I always uncheck since I have any refunds go to my bank)
I have tried navigating to the form, but it does not offer to import any forms from Fidelity. Two weeks ago, when I started working on my taxes, the program did offer me the opportunity to import. Now, it just goes to fill in the form myself.
First step....go separately into your Fidelity account, and
go to the Statements page,
then select the Tax Forms tab
And see if your Fidelity Consolidated Form 10999 (PDF) is available . IF it isn't there, then a Fidelity tax download will not be ready for you yet. Mine only came available last Saturday...and when it is ready depends on what you hold in your account. Owning any REITS will delay everything until March.
IF you do have an available PDF now, in your actual Fidelity account. (Log out of Fidelity first)
Here are one set of TTX "Online" software steps to import:
