I am using Turbotax Deluxe 2022 and trying to import data from my 2021 Turbotax pdf. It keeps coming back saying the "This import was unsuccessful". What's the problem? I don't want to enter all the information again by hand.

You should be transferring the tax file, not the pdf. Very little will transfer from a pdf. And you have to do that transfer at the very beginning before you enter any new 2022 information.

How to transfer last year’s return? https://ttlc.intuit.com/questions/1900883
Ditto to previous reply. Search your file folders for the actual saved tax return, TTax usually saves automatically to a Turbo Tax folder under Program files (assuming you are using Windows) unless you have chosen a different location. The file will have Turbo Tax under file type, not Adobe Acrobat document.
If it is going to fail anyway, why list it as a capability. Importing directly from last year's TurboTax pdf record of all my information seems like a pretty easy slam dunk.
Yes, of course, it would be better to use the actual tax file, but my disk crashed and I have been using Carbonite as my cloud backup. Good time to learn that they do not backup the tax files, only the pdfs.
Why does TurboTax not import its own PDF output?
