My daughter had this problem. Social Security had entered her birthday as 1 Dec 1981, instead of the correct 17 Dec 1981. We had to show them a birth certificate (and a passport) to get it fixed. Then IRS would take her return. But since Social Security can really delay things, we filed on paper for that year.
