But it only covers actual CALCULATION errors in the program, not user error (and it’s almost always user error), and it only pays any penalties or interest resulting from that error, not the taxes. Either way, you are still responsible for the increase in tax.
Adjusted Gross Income (AGI) can't be the only thing that's incorrect. AGI is the result of adding up various income items and subtracting adjustments. For the AGI to be wrong, one or more of the income or adjustment figures has to be wrong. Before you file a claim, make sure you understand where the root cause of the error is. If something was entered incorrectly, TurboTax is going to reject the claim.
Thank you....I looked at my tax forms and the numbers look fine to me based on my tax documents. it is totally possible that the State made an error OR I am not understanding what the state is looking at. I issued a claim to TurboTax for review. The claim page has an error because when I tried to "UPLOAD" documents it kicked me out and when I signed in again the page said I already filed a claim! No email. No claim number. So I uploaded all my documents under the 2018 tax year "documents".....do you know the email for turbotax? I need to confirm that they understand what I had to do.
I understand.
Good luck trying to get TurboTax to admit a calculation error and pay your penalty and interest.
From your post above, you're already off to a rocky start.
@KATNSAM You cannot email TurboTax. Email is not one of the ways to contact TT. You can contact customer support or you can try contacting the audit support folks to help you understand the letter you received.
I RECEIVED A LETTER FROM THE IRS/STATE
TurboTax does not receive any information from the IRS or your state after your return was filed, so no one at TurboTax knows about a letter you received from the IRS or the state.

AUDIT SUPPORT
TurboTax has a special phone number for help with IRS/state tax letters, which will be easier than going through regular Customer Support. At the page below, click on the blue button that says "Get Help from TurboTax Support". Then it will ask you what tax year is your letter. Then it will ask you what the letter concerns. Then it will show you the phone number during posted business hours.
