I filled out the free extension form 4868 online and form seems to have a bug. It listed a Balance Due on line 6 (instead of 0) when line 5 was greater than line 4.

This is for tax year 2021. I can't find any way to 'report' this bug so I don't know if someone has a way to report it or if Intuit is monitoring this board. When i filled out the same form with my TurboTax desktop software it showed a 0 on line 6, but the desktop version didn't seem to submit electronically so i went online to the free extension.

Did the extension go through while using the online version?

Yes it went through….but the form wasn’t filled out correctly. I presume the government can ignore that but definitely an error in the software

I have the same issue. Line 6 shows balance due when it should be zero. I submitted it online so there is no way for me to correct this. Can you please address his question? Will the IRS notice this is a bug and ignore the balance due on line 6 even though Line 5 is larger than Line 4? I spent forever doing this as I started it on the downloaded version but of course the software didn't alert me that i had to print and mail. So then I did it online in Turbotax but got the stupid bug that shows I have a balance due and of course zero that I'm paying because I don't owe anything...I am due a refund! Can someone please address this obvious BUG in the software and what if anything can or should be done on the part of the customer? thanks, lee
