I filed a simple, free return for 2021 and did not check that I can be claimed by someone else. When I try to amend it, I am being charged $73. Why the charge?

An Amendment return (1040X) is included in the Free Edition. If you are being asked to upgrade, you may be changing something else in the return that is triggering an upgrade response.
