Did you get into a paid version? To go back to the Free Edition you can try to clear and start over https://ttlc.intuit.com/community/using-turbotax/help/how-do-i-clear-and-start-over-in-turbotax-onli...
If you started your tax return in TurboTax Free Edition (Form 1040 with limited credits; roughly 37% of taxpayers qualify), you won't need to clear and start over. You can select Switch to Free Edition instead.
In the Turbo Tax Free Edition, information that you can enter is limited now. Why do I have to upgrade from the Free Edition?

Or try the IRS Free File program

Sometimes there are new forms that do not qualify for free filing. If you start for free and then enter a form that is not part of free filing you will be asked if you want to upgrade. Most common are 1099-R and 1099-DIV.
I clicked on the $0 to fill out the 1040 , $0 to file federal , $0 to file state. No matter what i do it keeps asking me to pay with a credit card to file the taxes. I cant seem to make it free like it was last year!
I figured that, but all mine is simple 1040 form single with income lower than required to file. I am just filing to get the refund back. I cant seem to make it free. It keeps charging me more that I am going to get as a refund! Should I just try H&R Block instead?
@dbarnes2023 When you are in the File section of the online edition on Step 1, the Order Summary is displayed. What are you being asked to purchase?

I have already completed all the forms and at the end it is saying i have to pay to file both Federal and State.
@dbarnes2023 Are you being asked to pay for the Deluxe edition? If so, the state return is no longer free.
The TurboTax Free online edition is for very simple tax returns that do not require any other form or schedule other than the Form 1040. If your tax data requires entry on any other form or schedule then you must upgrade to the Deluxe edition or higher.
If you have not paid for the online edition you are using, have not filed your tax return or registered the Free edition, then you can clear your return and start over with a lower priced edition. Click on Tax Tools on the left side of the program screen while working on the 2024 online tax return. Click on Clear & Start Over.
There is not a "tax tools" on the left side. I wish you could see my screen . tax home and documents is the only choices on the left side.
@dbarnes2023 You must be signed onto the 2024 online account AND you must be accessing the 2024 online tax return AND in one of the sections of the 2024 tax return for the links on the left of the screen to be available. The sections available to be entered are Personal Info, Wages & Income, Deductions & Credits, Other Tax Situations, State, etc.
ok, i found the start over button. Once I am in again, the only options are free to start then pay to file, or the other two that are pay. I don't see an option for free to start and free to file.
Sorry . I had the deductions box checked. Now it is letting me do it for free.
Thank you for your help. Sorry I was confused.
