If you completed your 2017 return using online software you should not need to purchase 2018 software to get to it. You do need to pay the fee for 2017, and then print, sign and mail the 2017 return.

When you mail a tax return, you need to attach any documents showing tax withheld, such as your W-2’s or any 1099’s. Use a mailing service that will track it, such as UPS or certified mail so you will know the IRS and/or your state received the return.

You will not be able to upgrade to the Plus edition for tax year 2018 since the TurboTax online editions for 2018 have closed to make way for the 2019 online editions. Once the 2019 online editions become available in December, at that time you can start a 2019 return and upgrade to Plus.
