I called and spent over an hour on the phone. Tt has no idea what to do other then print and send state return. Looks like i will use another tax service this year
They already did yesterday i believe. Here it is
e-file the 1040 only, delete the check for Maryland e-file. then find the post from LadyGourmet in this group wh has great information on the Maryland issue. Also there was a TT Maryland update today when i logged into TT @10am.
not sure if this helps. but when i opened TT @10 am, today, Thursday, Feb 3rd, there was a 2 minute Maryland update to upload. maybe TT has figured this out!
is this the online version? or did you purchase the software?
online
Thank you for this suggestion. That's just what I did, and immediately was able to file my Federal tax forms. MD can go later. I have NO idea what this new form is; from the descriptions I've read, it has nothing to do with anything in my world. So we shall see ....
Anyway, thanks again for that helpful hint. All my frustration is gone. Ahhhhh ....
i got the cd rather than on-line. Deluxe edition. i don't like downloads.
I do not know what information they want from me, or where i am to retrieve the information.
I spent an hour and a half with live help today and he seemed to know much less than I did about the software. Good grief. What I finally did after deleting my state return to efile the federal, was to redo the MD return (only took around 5 minutes). I then went to the print center to "preview" my state return, and then copied everything into the Maryland ifile form. Efiling that way is free, and TT has already crunched the numbers for you. I double checked that all of the final numbers matched, and submitted on the MD site. The whole process took less than 20 minutes.
Happy filing!
Hi Lankfordfamily - was this on the turbotax cd download or website version?
On the website.
Lankfordfamily - Thank you, this is good. So just to make sure I am doing this correctly, you took your Maryland taxes out of TT and filed on the Maryland website with no issues, correct?
Yep!
I was able to efile my Federal and Maryland state returns today using same approach to get around the error regarding Form 8582. This was very odd since Form 8582 is not part of my federal or state return and I do not have any passive activities, so it was hard to even find the offending form. When the message came up about finding an error, I switched to Forms View, which brought up a copy of 8582 and sure enough there was a zero in one of the entries. I used the Override function in the Edit pull down menu (or could be right-click) to delete the zero and then I was able to complete the return and file. Even after filing, I had issues with trying to print/save the return and got error messages about forms not being ready etc. I also had error messages about Child Care deductions which I do not have but after entering a few zero's I was able to complete. Very buggy Turbotax this year but at least my return went in. Federal already accepted and waiting on MD.
