How to enter a large amount of stock transaction in Turbo Tax
I’m sorry, but none of that is helpful. I’ve tried many times with exactly the same result. I would show you a screenshot that shows the download 99% or so finished "Importing 4761 transactions from Coinbase Pro" "Estimated time remaining 2-6 minutes". It eventually times out.
I am in the same boat I have 41,000 transactions that I need to port in. It connects because its telling me how many transactions it was to pull over. But ultimately it times out and stops. Any workaround would be greatly appreciated. I also tried doing the CSV but it wants me to break out sheets by 2000 transactions. Just seems silly.
Same here with the .csv . too many errors so it's pretty much useless. Either they get this fixed or I won't be able to file my transactions.
In TurboTax Premier Online, you may be able to upload a .csv file by following these steps:
The .csv should follow this format.
.csv file format.
A B C D E
purchase date date sold proceeds cost basis currency name
11/24/2021 2/1/2022 1,779.96 1,916.52 ABFOA
12/7/2021 4/1/2022 1,111.46 1,225.45 ABFOA
11/24/2021 3/1/2022 1,638.54 1,638.54 ABFOA
I've uploaded my .csv files a couple of times. The file (s) have too many errors (even after editing) so that they are unusable. The documents remain on the TurboTax site. Like I said either this software glitch is fixed or I will be unable to give my transactions to the IRS. The transactions are the only reason I used TurboTax instead of a free version.
02/19/2023. Nothing has changed. Almost finishes downloading then stops. The .csv(s) I've tried to upload don't work as downloaded from Coinbase Pro. I've tried "fills" and "statements", but no doubt there's something wrong with the format. If I join Coinbase One would that help?
This is getting around the downloading the .csv file issue but one method to get around the issue would be to request, if you do not already have one, Form 8949 from the issuing agency. Delete all imported transactions, and enter the totals as a single transaction as shown on the 8949.
You may want to attach a pdf copy of the 8949 to your return for verification purposes.
The IRS is concerned that you are properly reporting your total capital transactions with their associated cost basis and while individual transactions are important, the totals are the most important.
I guess I could do it as a paper 1040-X. Still hoping TurboTax & Coinbase will fix the software for now. At least your idea is doable.
So I am no longer "Prepared to be amazed". Last year my Coinbase Pro upload just fine. Still the same results when using the automatic feature. It stops just short of completing. Tonight I downloaded a new .csv file to my computer then tried to upload it to TurboTax. It uploaded and then it said it was "processing" and of course eventually timed out. I really haven't figured out how to get F8949 from Coinbase Pro. Coinbase - Yes Coinbase Pro - No. I'm really not sure why I paid good money to TurboTax.
Coinbase Pro generated CSV files do not import either:
'The file column names in your CSV file are not correct. Please follow the instructions on the right-hand side to download the proper file."
Coinbase Pro and TurboTax are not compatible in 2023
I talked to customer service at TurboTax. They were unable to resolve these issues. Frankly, when I said Coinbase Pro they thought I said Bass Pro. All they were able to do was read these same threads. They have no way to escalate or see if there is a known defect. "Call Coinbase Pro."
Yeah, that seems to fit the facts. Right now I can't even bring up the TurboTax page to re-login after my last attempt even after rebooting my computer.
Well, it SAID it downloaded, however, still pretty useless. I have made no other trades except on Coinbase & Coinbase Pro
"looks like we may be missing an exchange or wallet with more of your transactions" "We need all of your transactions from all of your accounts to accurately calculate your cost basis."
Important:How to fix it: Go back and make sure you’ve added all of your exchanges or wallets. The most common reason for this error is when we’re missing a source.
