That is self employment income. Sorry it is your own business.
Yes you are the owner of your own self employment business. You are in business for yourself. Use your own info. The people or company that pays you is your customer or client. You are considered to have your own business for it. YOU are the business.
You need to fill out schedule C for self employment business income and pay self employment tax in addition to regular income tax on it. The SE tax is to pay Social Security and Medicare tax that wasn't taken out like on a W2.
You can enter Self Employment Income into Online Deluxe or Premier but if you have any expenses you will have to upgrade to the Self Employed version.
How to enter income from Self Employment
Volvo girl,
I think every desktop version of TurboTax has Schedule C for expenses. So, I think TurboTax Deluxe would work for his simple Self-employed income. But I guess TurboTax Home&Business might be best for self-employed because it might include potentially other options, exclusions, etc, to reduce his income further(?)
@kostopst Yes all the Desktop programs have the same forms. You just get more help and guidance in the Home & Business program.
You are correct. Every desktop version of TurboTax has all the forms in it. However, if you are not comfortable with entering all the information on the forms, are not comfortable and familiar with tax law and prefer the interview mode, it is best to upgrade to the version that does all of this in interview mode.
