How do I get my file for 2018 from turbotax? I just want my 2018 return

To access your current or prior year tax returns sign onto the TurboTax website with the userID you used to create the account - https://myturbotax.intuit.com/

Scroll down to the bottom of the screen and on the section Your tax returns & documents click on Show.  Click on the Year and Click on Download/print return (PDF)

If you used the desktop CD/Download editions installed on your computer, the only copy of your tax data file and any PDF's will be on the computer where the return was created.  TurboTax does not store online any returns completed using the desktop editions.

For a fee of $50 you can get a complete federal tax return from the IRS by completing Form 4506 - http://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/f4506.pdf

Before I leave TurboTax forever.  Please tell me ho0w to acquire my 2018 tax file.  I have tried for a straight answer from you folks for 3 weeks.  It only displays in Unicode (text) which is unreadable...

If you download the 2018 tax data file, which has a file extension of .tax2018, that can only be opened by the 2018 TurboTax software.

If you download the 2018 PDF of the tax return, that can be opened by any compatible PDF program, such as Adobe Reader.

@martywhalen Additionally, if your did download the PDF of the 2018 tax return and it has a file extension of .txt then rename the file extension to .pdf.  This happens when using Edge as your web browser.
