How do I create a new 1099-NEC?

Your directions indicate:

"If you need Schedule C to report a 1099-NEC or 1099-MISC, search for 1099-NEC or 1099-misc and select the Jump to link. Answer Yes to Did you get a 1099-NEC or 1099-MISC? We'll ask questions to find out if your 1099 income needs to go on Schedule C."

However, no matter what I do I cannot get a prompt to create and enter a new 1099-NEC form.

Please advise.

Yes, you will find the form in Forms Mode. Click the Open Form button on the upper left side of the screen and then type "1099" in the search box. You should see a list of forms including the 1099-NEC Worksheet.

How do I create a new 1099-NEC?

The Step-by-Step (interview) in the program is not quite complete at this time.

You can create a new 1099-NEC in Forms Mode (click the Forms icon in the upper right side of the screen), search for "1099", and open the 1099-NEC Worksheet.

I don't see a 1099-NEC worksheet along the panel on the left.  I will admit to deleting it while I was trying to delete my imported 1099-MISC from last year, as I had the wrong thing highlighted or it deleted the wrong thing.  Can I get the 1099-NEC worksheet back?  Thanks!

Try going to the top of the Forms list on the left side and Open Form.  Then search or look through the US list of forms on the right side.

But are you trying to add a 1099NEC that you received?  It's probably too early to have received one.  Or do you need to create a new 1099NEC to give to someone you paid?

while the IRS has released the form, TT needs time to update the programming.  in H&B there is forms mode. there is no IRS or state requirement to use 1099-MISC or NEC (the details are not submitted to the IRS in e-filing and there is no requirement to submit if you mail in the return - probably would be tossed in the garbage)  income can be entered directly on the schedule.  line 1a (its warning is that if you use 1099-NEC don't enter again on line 1a) if you right click on the amount box and then + sign you can enter details like payee w/o using the 1099 input.

Great, this worked to get the 1099-NEC worksheet back.  I filled in the numbers and double-clicked the box to link it to Schedule C and it calculated as expected.  Thank you.
