Do you have the *.tax2023 data file on your computer from last year? If so, you can upload it into Online TurboTax to transfer the 2023 data into your new 2024 online return. It must be the tax data file. A PDF won't work. Here's how:
FAQ: Switching from desktop TurboTax to Online (such as 2023 desktop to 2024 Online)
@ maxwell340
NOTE:
Since you have used desktop versions in the past, be aware you will encounter quite a few differences in the online version. First of all, there is no Forms Mode for viewing actual forms during preparation, although you can pay in advance if you wish to have viewing/printing privilege. Online TurboTax can only prepare 1 Federal return per year per account, so you can't prepare multiple family members in the same account.
Unless one qualifies for Free Edition, there is a preparation fee for the Federal return and a prep fee for the state return. There are no efiling fees. Be aware that if you choose to pay your product fees out of your Federal refund, there is an extra $40 service fee for that option ($45 for California filers.) You will avoid that extra fee by paying the fees upfront with credit/debit card.
A hefty fee will be added if you click on help from a Live expert. That can upgrade you to TurboTax Live which is more expensive. If you don't need the Live tax expert to help you in return preparation and reviewing your return, you can still ask for help in this forum or can phone TurboTax Support for regular help.
Thank you very much for the information.
