If you have already filed your return, you can only change your filing status by filing an amended return, here's how:  2019 Amended Return

If you are trying to remove your wife in TurboTax and have not filed your return yet, follow these steps:

  1. While in your Tax Home,
  2. Select Personal Info,
  3. Select Review Edit,
  4. Select Edit next to your filing status:
  5. Select Married, and then select No -filing separately.

How can I take my spouse off my tax return. Married filing separately.?

My wife has a SS No but it is just for identification purposes and not for working. She is Slovak national and we married with K1 Visa, but she went back to Slovakia before we applied for her green card. She lived in Slovakia for all of 2019. When I file my return for 2019, Married filing separately, I am required to enter her SS No but then IRS rejects my return (efile) because her SS No is not work qualified.
