I would like to know the answer to this as well. I did not sell the crypto, but am told I need to report every purchase and trade.
Please follow the instructions in this TurboTax FAQ to contact customer support for assistance on this entry issue: What is the TurboTax phone number?
Yeah it keep asking for all the details about like sales from one place system, but showing me multiple forms. I don't want to say its a glitch, but teh answers I could enter are from potentially 3 values below. The form isn't stating from which for the 3 forms is showing does it want the value from.
Buying crypto does not qualify as a taxable transaction, so doesn't need to be reported.
Correct. The tax form does include a box asking if you bought/sold/sent/exchanged virtual currency. It is right below your name and address on the tax form. This box must be checked. If you did not sell, this would be the only part of your return to report purchase.
Has there been any update on this? My acquired date says "Various" so am not sure what I should put down for the date
I had this issue of "check this entry cryptocurrency wks. [insert issue]"
The issue was because I started off by manually entering each crypto gain/loss before deciding to INSTEAD use a 3rd party site (like cryptotrader.tax) to calculate it and upload a .csv file.
Solved it by going back and deleting the manual entries.
Go back and delete the manual entries if you uploaded a .csv file from a 3rd party for gains report.
Hope that helps anyone else with the issue.
