Your post indicates you are using the TurboTax Live Deluxe edition which is one of the more expensive online editions.
If you only have a W-2 to enter on your tax return you should be using the TurboTax Free online edition.
If you have not paid for the online edition you are using, have not filed your tax return or registered the Free edition, then you can clear your return and start over with a lower priced edition. Click on Tax Tools on the left side of the program screen while working on the 2023 online tax return. Click on Clear & Start Over.
you may be able to e-file on 1/4 but The IRS has ESTIMATED it will open e-filing on 1/18/2024. if you submit your return before that date it will just sit on Turbotax servers until then. You won't know if your return is accepted d or rejected until the IRS gets it.
If you submit your tax return before IRS e-filing opens, your tax return will not really be filed. As you said, it will just sit in a queue at TurboTax, not at the IRS. There is no advantage to having your tax return held in the TurboTax queue. You will not get your refund any faster. But once you submit it you can't cancel it or get it back to make changes or corrections if you find that you made an error or left something out. Are you really sure that you have nothing to report besides your W-2?
