Has anybody had an instance where TurboTax told them one amount they were getting back in federal but they actually got something else? I’m wondering because TurboTax claims my federal refund is

If you are saying that you completely finished your return and the program said what your federal refund was but when you received the direct deposit or refund check, it was for a different amount, that probably means the taxing agency (IRS in this case) offset your refund for a something on the tax return that was missing, a past due income tax, child support, student loans, or some other obligation.  

You should receive a letter from the government entity, explaining why you didn't get the refund.

I’m asking has anybody had that happen to them . I haven’t received my tax return but I am wondering is the amount they say I am getting back is correct because it is not displayed on my 1040

Your refund is not showing on Line 20 and/or 21a of your Form 1040 when you preview the form?

Then where did you see the amount?  At the end Turbo Tax shows you the net combined of federal and state. But that is only for your info. Federal and state are completely separate and come from different places at different times.  You will get the full refund and if you owe on one return you have to pay that yourself.

No it isn’t . It’s blank . When I open my TurboTax app it says I’m getting only $9 back in federal but then when I look on the 1040 form that they let me download, it isn’t on those lines. Would it be possible that it would be on line 12a?

When I open my TurboTax app at the top . It says total federal tax return $9. When I scroll to the bottom it shows what I owe and what I am getting back in state and that’s it . When I open the 1040 they let me download, it does not display the $9 anywhere and it does show what u am getting back in state and what I owe and that’s it
