I am using TurboTax H&B 2023 with most current updates as of this question. I used ItsDeductible to manage my donations to Goodwill and other organizations. Those uploaded into TurboTax just fine. Once I did federal review it found one issue. Form 8283 is not approved. My questions are these.
When will IRS approve form 8283?
When will TurboTax include approved form 8283 after IRS approves?
Will all my ItsDeductible entries be automatically copied into the approved 8283 form so e-filing is possible for my federal and state returns?
Thanks

The IRS Form 8283 Noncash Charitable Contributions for tax year 2023 is scheduled to be available in TurboTax on 01/31/2024 (subject to change)
Go to this TurboTax website for forms availability - https://form-status.app.intuit.com/tax-forms-availability/formsavailability?albRedirect=true&product...
Well, that date is no longer valid. Today, TurboTax says Feb. 7 for that form. It keeps moving. My question is: is this real or a software glitch? Where can I validate from the IRS that this is true?

The Form 8283 in TurboTax is completed and finalized only by the TurboTax programmers based on the IRS requirements and rules for using the form. As stated in the prior post the date is subject to change.
The date is provided by TurboTax only for the form availability in TurboTax.

It doesn't matter when the paper form is available at the IRS. The form is not currently available in Turbotax. We don't know why, no one on this board is a programmer and we don't have access to the programmers. If you don't want to wait, I would not blame you for looking for another software solution.
Form 8283 is required when the total of your non-cash donations is more than $500. If you are only a little over, you could think about removing some donations to get under $500 and file now. If the total of your donations for any single item or similar item is more than $5000, not only do you need to e-file the form 8283, but you also need to mail the IRS a paper copy signed by a qualified appraiser and signed by a financially responsible official of the charity. In the event your donations are that large, you can use the waiting time to get those signatures.
Form 8283 appears to still only be available in draft form from the IRS. The IRS must release the final form before TurboTax can include it in their software. The IRS does not give a date when it will be available.
See this on the IRS site: https://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-dft/f8283--dft.pdf
Thank you all for the quick and helpful answers. I'm not much over $500 in non-cash contributions. I'll just trim that and file without 8283. Thank you!!

Odd. I wonder what they needed to change.
this was done last year or year before with FTC form - date kept moving out week by week by week .... even when block had the form up weeks before.

The trick here is that the plain link to "f8283.pdf" will always open the most recent approved version. Last week, it opened the 2022 version, because the 2023 version was only in draft. As of today, the IRS has made the 2023 version official. So it should not take too long for Turbotax to be updated as well.
That said, I don't try and make excuses for Turbotax's odd schedule of forms availability. If another company is ready to file, and is just as easy to use, go there instead.
Has anyone heard if Form 8283 will be ready today to e-file? On https://form-status.app.intuit.com/tax-forms-availability/formsavailability?albRedirect=true&product... it shows ready on 1-31 but it is 1-31 and it isn't ready yet.
That means it will be available with the 1/31/24 update which happens at night. It should be available tomorrow.
