Form 7206

@iusdcm1

Thanks for your reply.  On a different thread, I got the advice from an Employee Tax Expert to update the software (!), e-file, and if it bounces, paper file.  At this point, I will e-file and hope it goes through.  If it goes through, I am banking on the hope that hundreds of thousands must have filed that way, that Intuit and the IRS have been in touch, and that the Service is aware of the issue and isn't sending notices if 7206 line 14 and Schedule 1 line 17 don't match.  This is genuinely exasperating.

I cannot agree more.  I feel like Turbo Tax really let us down on this one!

Form 7206

What is the status of this issue as of April 2025?

Can desktop users of TurboTax e-file with Form 7206 now? TurboTax still lists Form 7206 as "Unsupported" for e-filing for Windows and Mac users. But I have seen people post that they've been able to e-file with it. Is that true?

Also even if you can e-file, Form 7206 is not filled out correctly by TurboTax and they put a footnote at the bottom regarding marketplace premiums not being included on the form. Should we just e-file with the form not filled out properly but not worry about it as long as our Self-Employed Health Insurance Deduction on Schedule 1 is correct? Or should we go into Forms mode and manually fix Form 7206 to make it accurate and then e-file? I do know the correct numbers the form should have. So I could add them. But then it would be strange because it seems to still have the footnote saying those premiums aren't on the worksheet when in that case they would be.

Can anyone share how they've handled this or the best way to handle it now?

Form 7206

It depends. Form 7206 is not available for e-file in TurboTax Desktop. It is available in TurboTax Online.

  • Tax Form Availability (Select Online or Desktop depending on  your software)
  • Make sure your Form 7206 is correct when you print and mail your tax return. Switch to Forms to manually edit the form.

I was able to e-file with Form 7206 on TurboTax Home & Business 2024. IRS accepted the federal return.

@DianeW777 See my post in this other thread for more details and what TurboTax should do to address this situation so it's not still an issue for 2025 taxes.
