This is ridiculous for Turbotax to keep pushing for a later date for this problem to be fixed. If you have to end up file it by mail, let's make sure Turbotax refund https://accounts.intuit.com/app/oirr
I have to be same error. Refilled yesterday after originally filing in January and waiting for March 27th to refill as the message indicated originally. Got rejected few hours later. Now it says to refill on April 4.
I am in the same situation. I co-own the house with my fiancé. We weren’t married in 2024, the year I’m filling the taxes for. So I can’t just uncheck the box.
If I mail my rerun, do I just attach the missing statement that I would create by hand? The error is due to a statement not being generated and i understand that IRS themselves don’t have any form for the statement on their website so TT has nothing to do with it. I’m just trying to understand if IRS will accept the statement that’s is not their form
My return was rejected twice due to 5695 processing error. So I looked at the pdf copy of my return, carefully read the IRS instructions for 5695, and then again went through the TurboTax input process for this form. For my case, I decided the TurboTax input process and associated questions resulted in the incorrect checking of the special rules for joint occupancy box 32a as it does not apply in my case since I paid the entire property (water boiler) cost and I will be the only person claiming credit. Thus, there is no allocation of the credit between occupants.
To fix my return I went back to the energy credits and "revisited". I then entered that had none to claim and this deleted existing form 5695. I then started over and entered that I did have energy credits and went through input process checking NO this time on the question for joint ownership as this question appears to be implemented incorrectly by TurboTax on form 5695 (for my case at least). I then continued and re-entered all other 5695 information for my hot water boiler and got the $600 credit as appropriate without box 32a checked.
I then refiled and my return was accepted by IRS within an hour.
Hope this helps.
I tried again after March 27 and received the same rekection error message yesterday, now showingl a new target date of April 4, 2025. So is this problem perpetual and will continue beyond April 15, and if so, at what point should TTax recomend that I submit it via snail mail to the IRS?
Is his is a problem occurring on the TurboTax side transmitting IRS side receiving?? In either case, TurboTax, should do a better job at proactively communicating the issue, where the problem is occurring and offering better resolution options resolution to its customers.
And what is your living arrangement IS join occupancy?
Please see my previous comment on how I fixed this and had my return accepted. I feel as though TurboTax input process does not result in the correct input on the 5695 form that is filed for my case at least. So I deleted the form and started over and said NO to the joint ownership question as this is where the disconnect/incorrect entry on the 5695 occurs (for me at least as there is no shared allocation of the credit).
In my case, my husband and I are married filing separately and we shared the cost of a new heat pump for the house we jointly own. So I can’t uncheck the joint occupancy box, and technically we should split the credit.
Should I just try unchecking the box and claiming the entire credit on my return? I’ve seen other comments where married filing separately returns got rejected if both returns didn’t include Form 5695, so I don’t think that’ll fix it either. Help me TurboTax!
What matters is what the 5695 instructions say and how you interpret them as applied to your own case rather than the questions that turbotax asks you and how you answer them. In my view this is at least somewhat subjective. I think If you have joint occupancy, shared the cost for the energy improvement, and are each claiming part of the credit (so it is allocated), then you need to have box 32a checked and I don't think TurboTax supports electronic filing in this case as the return will be rejected and this is on TurboTax to fix.
On the other hand, if there is joint occupancy, only one person paid for the energy improvement and the credit is not allocated between occupants, then 32a a does not apply and TurboTax does support electronic filing (as a supporting document on how credits was allocated is not needed).
The bottom line is that the credit is claimed appropriately as long as the other occupant did not pay for the energy improvement and does not claim any credit in which case the joint occupancy effectively "does not apply" on line 32a.
P.S. both my federal and state returns have now been accepted.
Now Intuit says not fixed until April 4th. That's the 3rd push. They should refund the e-file payment to all involved.
Now Intuit says not fixed until April 4th. That's the 3rd push. I read from threads that this is an IRS issue. Seems like IRS (?) is making Clean Energy difficult to report.
See my previous comments for possible fix depending on your situation. My returns were accepted within an hour.
I think the TurboTax input process for 5695 needed to include multiple nested questions (not just one question) to appropriately address the different subcategories of energy credits, various possible ownership scenarios, payment and credit allocation possibilities, and somewhat subjective nature the 5695 instructions to determine if box 32a was checked or not.
