4/15 I was filing my tax form via e-filing. I went through the steps to e file and "submit." When I got to the end and hit send it did just that. My problem was that it never asked about payment. I assumed that it would come after the next step. I submitted my taxes and thought, they never verified if my bank account was correct or a confirmation of the process. So, I assumed that turbotax didn't pay my bill because it would have to go through several verification steps before it removed a sizable sum from my bank account. So, I quickly got online and went to my federal and state websites and payed my bills. Sure enough 4/19 turbotax deducted a duplicate amount from my bank account. Now I have double paid. Ouch! Did other people have that experience? Glitch?

In the FILE tab ... step 2 asked how you wanted to pay the taxes and when ... then later in step 3 you proceed to efile the return. So you set up the payments in step 2 and forgot what they were a few minutes later. Sadly you should have checked the PDF of the return for the payment choice you made instead of making a second payment online. Now you will have to wait for the fed/state to process the returns, see the excess payment and refund it to you ... a painful lesson learned. If you had posted this issue before you paid we would have told you where to look. Never file a return until you have downloaded and review the PDF of the return carefully ... everything you need to know is in that PDF file.
And FYI ... TT doesn't make the payment at all. The info for the debit is forwarded to the fed/state with the return and they are the ones who complete the transaction you told them to make.
