When the e-filed tax return was rejected by the IRS, none of the direct debit payment information was received by the IRS. It is as if the tax return was never filed when it is rejected.
Do you think it will cause a debacle if I go online to the IRS portal and just pay that amount, now, as a 2022 payment? Or should I wait for the taxes to be accepted, then go make a payment? Thank You for your help!
After correcting the rejected tax return, if you selected to pay the taxes owed by mailing a check you can go ahead and e-file again. Just do not send a check for the payment if you are going to use the IRS payment website to pay the 2022 taxes owed. This is the normal procedure for those who want to use the IRS website to make a payment instead of sending a check.
Thank You for your knowledge! May the coffee (if you do so drink it) be stronger than any negativity that tries you today!
Filed my return with TT, electronically, put in info to pay the amount due when I filed. It was rejected twice. Will the funds withdrawal from bank and pay the IRS or do I need to mail a check? With a copy of the return. Please advise. text me @ [phone number removed] please
