Life is too short. I paper filed.
from the IRS "Known Issues and Solutions file, last updated on Feb1:
Business Rules F8960-019-04 and F8960-003 may cause returns to erroneously reject. These business rules need to be modified to reflect the updates to the Instructions for Form 8960 (Tax Year 2022) regarding the Specific Instructions for Line 4a to include Schedule C (Form 1040) amounts reported on Schedule 1 (Form 1040), line 3 and Form 1041, line 3. | Business Rules F8960-019-04 and F8960-003 will be updated in early PY2023. | Business Rules will be updated sometime in late February to mid-March 2023. |
The old link stated 02/05. The new link shows late February mid March
H&R Block worked for me. TaxAct and TurboTax were both rejected.
I think this is a turbotax software issue, not an IRS issue. In my taxes last year, which mirrors the information I submitted this year the form 8960 was in the submission to the IRS, but it was completely blank. This year, turbo tax filled it out with the positive and then negative income from a side 1099 job. Not rental income, Same as I had last year. If I could
Tried refiling today on the 2/6 but no luck. What is the updated resolution date?
@CC-in-KC It's literally been pinned at the start of this thread for days.
End of February-mid March.
Is there a service that lets you fill out your own tax forms and eFile them? I paid for Turbotax because last year it took the IRS 9 months to process our refund. The only reason I paid money for Turbotax was to eFile, and now I can't eFile the return. I have to print the forms myself and mail them and wait probably another 9 months for a refund. I don't expect the extra 80,000 IRS employees to improve the turnaround at all.
UPDATE 2/07/2023
this IS a known IRS issue AND in the LINK:
https://www.irs.gov/e-file-providers/known-issues-and-solutions
the new expected resolution date is late Feb to early/mid March 😑
Thank you Captain Obvious 😂😂
Beyond Frustrated with this Form 8960 issue. I have 0. zero,nada,- NIT! This form does not apply to me ! have attempted to delete the form over 10 times. Spoke to 4 different reps and they have no answers for me .
Do I have to wait until Turbo Tax fixes the glitch? If so until when ?
Do I need to switch to HR Block?
What question on Turbo leads to trigger Form 8960? is there a form that I need to update?
Please help !
According to the instructions for Form 8960, if your MAGI (check Line 11 on your 1040) meets one of the following thresholds, you are someone "Who Must File" a Form 8960:
FYI, this is a TurboTax issue. This thread leads you to believe this is a IRS issue. HR Block does not have this issue!
I was able to identify the error. Turbo Tax is adding in $1,000 on line 4a of form 8960, then subtracts it (-$1000). I don’t have any rental property! I’ve been on hold for 15 minutes already trying to find out how to get a refund so I can use HR block. 😡😡😡
