You can snail MAIL, but you cannot E-FILE!
The error check is preventing e-file.
Thanks. I'll give them a bit to dial it in but it's not that hard for me to just use someone else. But maybe all tax folks have the same problem.
Just reviewed several other tax software comment boards regarding QBI-section 179 errors blocking e-filing...
- HR Block has the same/similar issue
- One person reported TaxAct was ok...be cautious
It is shameful these large corporations are not being more proactive in notifying users of their software regarding significant issues.
This is the link that Intuit is using but has not shared:
https://www.irs.gov/e-file-providers/list-of-available-free-file-fillable-forms
You can see that parts of 8995-A are pending. This is why Intuit is blocking.
HOWEVER, this has nothing to do with the short form 8995 and if that is what TT has selected that error should not be preventing filing.
I recommend calling and complaining as I did.
Is there a Turbo Tax employee on these threads who can provide direction on this issue?
Unfortunately, the IRS has pushed the date for availability for the Form 8995-A to 2/28/20 (they just changed it today). TurboTax will update as soon as possible.
For those of us that are using Form 8995 and not 8995-A, can we go ahead and file our taxes even though we still have this error message?
No, unfortunately, the IRS has moved the date for the Form 8995-A back to 2/28/20 so you will not be able to file yet. I completely understand how frustrating this is.
@MaryK4 The outstanding issue are for form 8995-A ONLY. Why are 8995 users being held up?
It also looks to me like the TT filing section will work despite the error. CAN YOU CONFIRM THIS?
I just feel like Intuit is not being transparent and is not communicating.
We do not want to delay your tax filing but there is no update as of right now.
Any update on when the fix will be deployed?
So very sorry- there is no update at this time. TurboTax cannot do anything until the IRS accepts the efiles.
Just got an update today that cleared the Error Check!
I am still getting the same message. If I don't check anything, I don't get the error, but how could one person get an update that would work and I didn't. I need to check "none of these apply". Turbotax says my program is up-to-date.
If your return is using form 8995 – a, then that update has not been released by TurboTax.
